Ever seen an electrician hold a voltmeter on a cable to see if there\u2019s a charge? It\u2019s one way of diagnosing which part of a device is not working \u2013 think crackles and distortion from your digital keyboard and amp! The meter measures voltage through the wires. But did you know that, back in the 1920s, scientists were doing this kind of investigation with human tissue<\/strong>? They believed all living tissue had electrical properties or bioelectricity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And they were right. Our cells communicate with each other via bioelectrical signals<\/strong>. They found changes in the voltage gradient along a human vaginal canal when cancerous cells were in the vicinity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, what they proved holds true for all<\/em> living things: animals, reptiles, birds, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over the years, however, we\u2019ve increased our understanding of bioelectricity. We now know that all our cellular processes organize themselves by sending out electrical signals. We\u2019re a complete electrical circuit<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You probably know people who reject this idea. They believe non-traditional therapies based on energy \u2013 like acupuncture, bioenergetics, and so-called \u201ctapping\u201d \u2013 are woo-woo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No! Grid electricity can give you a shock. It\u2019s a current made up of negatively charged electrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bioelectricity, on the other hand, comes from the positively charged ions of minerals and electrolytes in our body \u2013 like potassium, sodium, calcium, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These ion channels only accept certain frequencies and function at a trillionth of an amp. It\u2019s crucial therefore that these ions have enough energy to jump across cell membranes<\/strong>. That\u2019s how your cells communicate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How Do Cells Use Their Bioelectrical Energy?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

1 They keep your body in homeostasis or balance,<\/strong> sending messages to and from the brain to every nerve that controls your movements, feelings, and thoughts \u2013 including your autonomic nervous system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2 They take in nutrients and remove waste material<\/strong> to keep us functioning healthily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
